Bears big and Beautiful

I have been wondering for some time whether to stop making the big bears since they are such hard work to make!  However, I do not think that will happen as I do enjoy the challenge and they look spectacular when finished.  This chap is called Glennifer looking handsome with his leather lidded glass eyes and opening mouth.  32" high he is definitely one of the big boys.
I used hand woven Donegal Tweed for his waistcoat and matching cap - the first attempt at a waistcoat with lapels which worked out well.  In his pockets there are hidden treasures!  His necky is made from a pure silk Paisley patterned fabric which blends with his Antique Scottish Plume.  His warm and thick woollen trews will keep him protected when walking near thistles and brambles!  I just loved making him and hope that he goes to a good home.....

  3. Please don't stop making the big bears, Sue! There are so few artists who still make the big fellows (and girls), that it would be such a shame if you stopped too. Glennifer does look spectacular and I just can't resist the feeling of taking such an impressive bear in my arms and giving him big bear hugs. I am absolutely sure that he will be adored in his new home. ♥
